Salvador is the capital of this region and is a common point of reference in Brazil. Divided in two, Salvador is connected by hillsides, avenues and mainly by the Lacerda Elevator.
In the lower city you find the rich Baroque style architecture, as well as the traditional and well-known Modelo Market. The upper city has its many recently reconstructed beautiful buildings. Salvador also possesses some of the most beautiful beaches on the Brazilian coast, Itapuã, Amaralina, Arembepe, Farol da Barra, Pituba and many others that are unexplored.

This region also has many wonderful attractions inland as well as on the coast. Inland there are forests, Rivers and is often referred to as ‘Africa in Exile’. This would be a must see region when visiting Brazil. This region is known for its shopping, nightlife and carnivals.
